“Tune my heart to sing Thy grace.”
I’m reminded of the sounds that I hear when Mr. Chandler comes to tune my piano. String by string– he plucks the sound from the spinet — and carefully he releases or increases the tension on its bearings to bring it to it’s perfect pitch before moving to the next string.
Up and down– one by one– from the deepest bass note to the highest trebel pitch– he takes each individual string and matches it to the master pitch.
My favorite part is when each has had it’s moments under his attentive ear and hand, he moves his attention away from the individual strings and places his hands on the ivory keys– and with dancing fingers he brings every string to life in concert with the others — harmony- pitch- blend — a sympony of sound that comes as each indivual string– first tuned — then joins in symphony with all the others.
Oh Lord– tune my heart. With the twist away from temptation– the slide towards love — each individual area of my life that stretches out across the line of my days— tune my heart through every influence, to sing Your grace.
How amazing that God— cares for me as He cares for the lilys of the field, the birds of the sky– so indivual is His care and keeping— As often as I submit myself to the Master’s hand– He tunes my heart.
Listinging to Mr. Chandler at work on that piano — from string to string— to all the keys playing out together— it reminds me of the Kingdom of God– how, when invited, He tunes each of our individual hearts to sing His grace– and, in so doing, not only brings us into the fullness of all the potential He created each indivudal to be– but places us in fellowship of faith and blends us together that we migh each add the voice of our lives together, to bring forth a resounding, resplendent praise. With our hearts tuned by Him, we turn to Him adn together, we worship His Magesty– by having become His Majesty.
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace Father. Amen.
